The fed cattle trade follow ed an even pattern as weather again played a ma jor role. Prices advanced on Monday as yet another weekend storm slowed livestock movement, but the early upturn was more than offset as road conditions im proved, marketings expand ed and carcass prices trend ed lower. An increasing mud problem and yield grade were often major price determining factors with cattle carrying a substantial coating of mud often selling 50-1.00 below clean offerings of same grade; best demand centered on relatively clean choice 1075-1200 lb. steers with some of these bought for fulfillment of commodity contracts.
