Under erosion and sedimentation control, the PARADISE, PA conservation group chose as three year goals to educate landowners regarding the developing and im plementing conservation plans; and to try to develop 400 farm conservation plans, depending upon the availability of personnel. Their 1979 objectives for the erosion and sedimen tation problems are manyfold. They want to contmue inspections, ex plore group planning as a method of completing more conservation plans with special emphasis m the Millway Road area of Warwick Township and other problem areas, in cluding the Chickies Watershed They also want to conduct training sessions for engineers, architects, developers, municipal of ficials, and equipment operators on erosion and DEPENDABLE MOTORS HARRY L. They will continue their priority system for new cooperators and notify them of acceptance. Other objectives include the encouragement of sound road location for logging operations, the revising and reprinting of the erosion and sediment control handbook, and the printing of the stormwater management handbook. Under the goal of education and youth, the Lancaster Conservation District has two three year goals. The first is to assist in setting up outdoor education laboratories; and the second is to review the methods of youth involvement in other counties to find a method that will work m Lancaster County. Concerning the district image and its public relations, the three year goals are to continue to emphasize the duties, work, and accomplishments of the Lancaster County Con servation District in the news media; and to publish and distribute a district newsletter. Their 1979 objectives in clude holding an annual meeting m conjunction with Conservation District Week; having 12 television programs on WGAL-TV, and also developing a senes of public service spots for TV and radio: emphasizing the tree seedling sale; spon soring a conservation tour for legislators, municipal officials, or civic groups; assigning a hason director to each cooperating agency in order to maintain and promote cooperation and understanding; and preparing a window exhibit for display at fairs. With the concept of land use, their three year goals include th£ continuing to work with the Assessors office to implement Act 319; continuing to provide input into Pennsylvania’ s land use planning efforts and supporting the com prehensive plan for Lan caster County; and en dorsing the floodplain protection legislation. For the year 1979, they will promote the Resource Recovery as an alternative to sanitary landfills; work with the Lancaster County Planning Commission and County Committee to preseerve agricultural land through deed restrictions andor the purchase of development rights; and focus more attention on the urban forest resource. In 1979, they will enter the Goodyear contest as a method of evaluating the district programs, will cntinue their special con servation projects, and investigate the Associate Director program. Looking at the watersheds and water resources, the three year goals include supporting the Chickies Creek Watershed project and help implement con servation practices; and investigating feasibility of watershed authorities m Lancaster County. Their 1979 objectives will be to assist in forming and supporting existing watershed associations; and acting as a clearmgho;use for stream restoration work. In the next 12 months the Lancaster Conservation District plans to visit several municipal meeting to ex plain municipal respon sibilities under the erosion and sedimentation control regulations; to give presentations at annual township supervisors meeting on stormwater management and erosion and sedimentation control; provide municpahties with items to consider m the development of stormwater management and erosion and sediment control or dinances, and review prior to final adaption, and hold a tour for municipal officials to view model stormwater management practices. For the forestry and fish and wildlife habitat development, the district plans to continue to include the fish and wildlife habitat improvement and forestry practices as a suggestion in the conservation plans, and hold a tree seedling sale.
