Mrs. Jane B. Crouse of Chestertown was this year’s Maryland winner of the Distinguished Service Award from the NAEHE, She has been a professional Member of the Cooperative Extension Service staff in Kent Cdunty for 22 years. Prior to that, she served two years as a 4-H youth agent m Harford County. Mrs. Crouse has developed many programs, and co-authored a resource guide for senior citizens. This was 12 year old Shane’s first time to earn the lamb round-up purple ribbon spot. He’s the son of Mr. and Mrs. Phillip Seidenstrickler, 201 N. Emigs Mill Road, York, and an eighth grader at West York High School. A member for two years of the county lamb club and the Thomasville Community Club, Shane has been working with sheep during both project seasons. Runner-up in the lamb competition was 14 year old Tom Flory, son of Mr. and Mrs. Donald Flory, Red Lion R 4. A seasoned veteran of lamb exhibiting, Tom is a seven-year 4-H member in the lamb and Ore Valley Clubs and attends the eighth grade at Red Lion High School. Ray Mummert, Brodbecks purchased the reserve champion, paying Flory $1.25 per pound for the 90 pound animal.
