Strauss, President Carter’s special representative for trade negotiation and special counselor on inflation, will be principal speakers at the American Farm Bureau Federation’s 60th Annual Meeting in Miami Beach, Florida, January 14 to 18, 1979. Reagan, former governor of California, and Strauss Pa. now swine brucellosis free HARRISBURG - Penn sylvania was recognized as a Swine Brucellosis-Free state October 24 by the United States Department of Agriculture, according to State Agriculture Secretary Kent Shelhamer. The commonwealth became the 15th state to be recognized as free of this costly swine disease. Shelhamer called the validation “another positive step in our continuing program of animal health. Validation status is maintained in these states by carrying out required procedures in locating and eliminating infection which could be introduced by swine imported from other states. Finals in the “discussion meet” will be held that evening, followed by Young "Farmer and Rancher awards. Tuesday’s general session will be addressed by Strauss and Richard W. Owens, AFBF chief administrator and secretary. Special conferences will be held Tuesday afternoon on sugar, horticultural crops, peanuts and tobacco, wheat and feed grains, natural and en vironmental resources, local affairs, SAFEMARK ser vices and insurance.
