Cows closed 50-1.00 lower and bulls were firm to 1.00 higher. Four day receipts 13,600 as compared 14,250 and 15,000 a year ago. Early trading on slaughter steers and heifers was active under an aggressive demand. Price advances on Monday and Tuesday were supported by higher quotations on carcass beef at the wholesale level; however, trading dulled at midweek and part of the early upturn was lost as live inventories built up and carcass trading dulled. Partially -in reflection of Jewish Holidays with movement reported slow into Eastern areas. The overall finish of the steer and heifer supply was fairly attractive with a liberal percentage Choice and a moderate volume Choice and Prime. Steers made up approximately 32 per cent and heifers 32 per cent. Cows comprised 8 percent and the largest western feeder run of season 25 percent.
