Maryland Porkecue Cook
off, here, look easy as she
won top honors with her
“Barbecued Pork
Spareribs” treat
Mrs. Gray entered the
contest some while back and
had apparently forgotten
about it. She learned she was
Gail K. Gray of Lexington Park, Md., is shown
here at work on her 1978 Maryland Porkecue
winning dish of barbecued pork superibs. The
contest, held at the Maryland State Fair in
Timonium, drew 10 finalists and was sponsored by
the Maryland Pork Producers Association.

You need one rack or pork
spareribs (approximately
three pounds).
These are marinated for

the recipe marinade. Ribs
are then cooked over “slow”
coals and basted frequently
with leftover marinade.
The marinade is prepared
as follows: one-half cup soy
sauce, three-quarters cup of
honey, one small can pureed
apricots, two heaping
teaspoons brown sugar, and
one teaspoon of ginger.
Combine all five ingredients
and heat until well blended,
cool before using.

Resolutions Meeting
scheduled by Farm Bureau
for Tuesday, September 19,"
at Ringoes Grange Hall.
Dinner will be served by the
Grange at 7 p.m., meeting
will follow at about 8, reports
Richard Gulick, Ringoes,
chairman of the Resolutions’
Committee.
All farmers, and others
interested in agriculture in
the county, are invited to
participate, says Gulick.
This is one meeting, held
annually, that is for the sole
purpose of determining what
some of the concerns are in
the agricultural community.
A broad range of issues
will be discussed, says
Gulick, and, from this
meeting resolutions are
developed by the county
group for consideration by
