Richard W. Owens, AFBF secretary and chief ad ministrator, said the AFBF Board of Directors took action to support passage of the referendum after reviewing AFBF policy and a recommendation by its sheep advisory committee. Owens said the $2,200,000 (fiscal year 1978-79) promotion program will be handled by the American Sheep Producers Council, Inc., established under the National Wool Act of 1954. If approved in the referendum, deductions will be increased from one and one-half cents per pound on shorn wool to two and one-half cents. Deductions for unshorn lambs will be increased to twelve and one-half cents per hundredweight from seven and one-half cents. JThe referendum will be ■ run by county offices of the Agricultural Stabilization and Conservation Service which will distribute in formation and ballots to sheep producers in mid- August. Anyone who owned sheep six months old or older for at least 30 consecutive days during 1977 can vote.
