Peach marke ting
MORRESTOWN, N.J. -
New Jersey’s Peach
Marketing Clinic, which has
been held for several years
for the benefit of producers,
handlers and buyers in the
Northeast, is scheduled for
July 10.
The meeting will again be
held at Mallard Inn in
Moorestown, N.J. A dutch
treat dinner is to start at 6:30
4-H dairy club holds meeting
READING - The Western
Berks 4-H Dairy dub met at
the home of Mark Wicks, on
June 2, 1978, with 12 mem
bers present.
Business at the meeting
included discussing first
prize exhibit at Boscov’s
promotion. Slides were
shown from the 4-H field day
1977.
The older members of the
group showed the younger
members how to trim hoofs.
4-H club meets
INTERCOURSE - On May
22, the Pequea Valley 4-H
Cooking & Sewing Club met.
The meeting was chaired by
President Lisa King. The
group then saw slides about
4-H activities, played some
games and sang some songs.
The next meeting will be
June 26, at the Pequea
Valley Intermediate
School’s home economic
room. This will be the club’s
first work meeting. It will
start at 10:30 a.m.

plans contest
FLEMINGTON, N.J. - A
roast turkey dinner will
precede the annual Hun
terdon County dairy princess
contest scheduled for June
13, reports Mrs. Marie
Schwab, Ringoes, contest
chairman. The affair will be
held at the Ringoes
Firehouse.
Details, entry forms, and
tickets are available in the
Hunterdon County Extension
Service office.
Franklin Co.
beef club
holds meeting
GREENCASTLE
Twenty members of the
Franklin County 4-H Baby
Beef Club and their parents
met recently at the Citizens
National Bank, Greencastle.
A roller skating party was
set for June 6 at Cold Springs
Roller Rink, Waynesboro.
Roy Brenneman, Agway
feed representative,
discussed the proper feeding
and ingredient proportions
for steer feed.
The next meeting will be
held June 15 at the Up
permen home.
11 million cows
The U S dairy herd
totaled 11 million cows, or
one dairy cow for every 20
people, in 1977 And, last
year, these cows produced
more than 123 billion pounds
of milk - or 337 million
p.m., with the program
scheduled to get underway
at 7:30 p.m.
Dougals Zee, president of
the New Jersey Peach
Promotion Council, will
preside at the meeting,
which will be open to anyone
who wishes to attend.
As in the past, the meeting
is being put on by the
Cooperative Extension
Service of Rutgers
The next meeting will be
held at the home of John
Stump on July 7.
