Inheritance tax seen as severe threat
COATESVILLE - Norman
Aamodt, congressional
candidate for the 16th
District, would like to do
something about the
problems of open land,
immorality and inflation. He
believes he can handle these
and other problems because
of his wide experience in
business, research, farming
and teaching, he says.
Aamodt says he would
work to abolish inheritance
taxes of moderate-sized
estates, explaining that the
tax presently causes break

survivors often must sell to
pay the tax. He points out
that this can be as much as
$150,000 on a 100 acre farm
because of its current high
evaluation. The law would
also apply to homes and
small businesses.

not work, Aamodt feels. The
farmer borrows on the value
of his land to expand his
business. He won’t be able to
do that with deed restric
tions as value of his land will
drop drastically.
Aamodt says he would
work to improve farm
markets. He feels that
dishonesty in the market has
hurt fanners. “Eggs, milk
and other farm products are
not bad for your health,” he
emphasizes.
The candidate repeatedly
talks about the free en
terprise system, stating that
government should stay out
of business. He sees the role
of federal, state and local
government in services and
numbers among these the
postal service and
education. “Government is
