Farmers Assn, sets plans YORK - York County farmers will shake off the fetters of Winter March 10, as they hold their annual Spring meeting of the York County Farmers’ Association at the Shrewbury Fire Hall, 7 p.m. After a beef dinner, John Rauhauser, noted historian and speaker, will address the fanners, setting the theme of the meeting with his “York County’s Past is Its Future” presentation. Highlight of the Spring meeting is recognition of York County farms that have been maintained in the same family f„. the past century. County Com missioners will be on hand to present framed certificate awards to the Century Farms that have proven to be eligible. Criteria is that the farms have been in the same family name or in the same family for the 100 years prior to now, or that they have been passed through the same “direct descent” genological blood line. At present 16 farms have qualified. Century Com mitteemen Emory Kilgore, Airville R 2; and Joyce Bupp, Seven Valleys R 2, will welcome any farm ap plications and provide ad ditonal details. Lehigh Co. approves $3494 4-H budget ALLENTOWN - The Lehigh County 4-H Development Fund Board of Trustees met at the Farm Credit meeting room on February 15 to discuss the current year’s proposed 4-H budget. Charles Mackenzie and Mary Ann Riddick of Allentown were introduced as new board members. Bob Leiby, Lehigh County 4-H agent, reviewed the 1977 Lehigh County 4-H Program. 4-H membership increased from 865 in 1976 to 1115 in 1977. The Affirmative Action Plan and Urban Nutrition 4- H Program were discussed. The 1978 Budget proposed expenditures of $3,494. Over $2OOO will be received from State Harness Racing Funds. The proposed budget has a deficit of $540.82.
