Fruit and vegetable conference
HERSHEY - More than
100 commercial exhibits and
three days of convention
programs were featured at
the first ever joint meetings
of several fruit and
vegetable growers’
associations, held here this
week.
In progress from Tuesday
morning through most of
Thursday, the multi
organization event drew
enthusiastic crowds from all
over Pennsylvania and
adjoining states.
One of the major reasons
the event was so popular was
because of what it had to
offer. The program was
diversified, offering

The concept of holding
such a joint meeting allowed
participating groups and
individuals to line up better
speakers while offering a
fme opportunity to work
together and discuss mutual
problems. Seminars which
focused in on the complete
growing spectrum were
offered.
This marked the first time
that such opportunities were
offered to horticulturists and
vegetable farmers. Prior to
this year, the vegetable and
horticultural conferences
were held at Penn State’s
University Park campus.
