In the Berkshire breed,

County, exhibited both the
champion and reserve
champion gilts.
A Blair County breeder,
Real Farms, Ine., of Tipton,
showed the champion and
reserve champion in the
Yorkshire competition.
And, in the Poland China
judging, Keith McConnell of
Volant, Lawrence County,
exhibited both the champion
and reserve champion gilts.

CAMP HILL - Six for
mers, three from Penn
sylvania and one each from
Delaware, Maryland, and
West Virginia, were honored
here at the Penn-Harris
Motor Inn on Tuesday af
ternoon. All were given the
prestigious Master Fanner
Award, given annually by
Farmer
magazine and the Penn State
Extension Service.
The awards luncheon, held
in one of the Penn-Harris’
magnificent ballrooms, was
attended by executives of the
Pennsylvania Department of
Agriculture, Penn State
personnel, previous Master
Farmer Award winners, and
invited guests.
The Master Farmer
Award is one of the highest
awards bestowed on formers
in this region. The three
Pennsylvanians who won the
conveted award this year
are Donald Hershey of
Lancaster County, Richard
Packard of Bradford
County, and Thomas Styer of
Bucks County. John Myers
won the honor in Maryland,
Russell linger was cited in
West Virginia, and William
Vanderwende was the
winner in Delaware.
The recognition luncheon
was attended by several
hundred agriculturalists.
