All were given the prestigious Master Fanner Award, given annually by Farmer magazine and the Penn State Extension Service. The awards luncheon, held in one of the Penn-Harris’ magnificent ballrooms, was attended by executives of the Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture, Penn State personnel, previous Master Farmer Award winners, and invited guests. The Master Farmer Award is one of the highest awards bestowed on formers in this region. The three Pennsylvanians who won the conveted award this year are Donald Hershey of Lancaster County, Richard Packard of Bradford County, and Thomas Styer of Bucks County. John Myers won the honor in Maryland, Russell linger was cited in West Virginia, and William Vanderwende was the winner in Delaware.
