Oliver, Greencastle Rl, is owner of the top milk-producing herd for the month of November in the Franklin County Dairy Herd Improvement Association, according to County Agent John Z. Shearer. Oliver’s 31-cow Holstein herd produced an average of 1.97 lbs. butterfat and 54.1 lbs. milk per cow per day during November. Average butterfat test was 3.6 Second highest herd was Large bale handling made safer NEWARK, Del. - The large ' ay bales made by the round iay baler don’t have to pose problems for farmers, says Ron Jester, University of Delaware extension farm safety specialist. Jester has cautioned Delaware farmers in the past against using front-end loaders and poorly designed equipment for handling and transporting the large cumbersome bales. He stated that there have been numerous accidents throughout the country in which persons have been injured as a result of mishandling these bales.
