Also recognized on Monday evening was a farm in Delaware County which has been in the same family since 1684. According to a local historian, the Jesse Darlington farm was deeded only two years after William Penn came to the area, and since Delaware and Chester Counties were not separated until 1789, the property was actually a Chester County farm for 105 years of its existence. According to Frank Custer, public information director for Chester County, even though a fairly thorough search was made for these Century Farms, there are still some remaining in Chester County which went unrecognized, and they will hopefully be honored in the future.
