Cows were mostly steady and bulls were weak to 1.00 lower. Four day receipts 15,400 as compred 15,000 previous week and 16,000 a year ago. The fed cattle trade at Omaha followed much the same pattern as the previous week. Prices were forced downward on the opening session when more than 48 auction news pet of the four-day total arrived, but most of the early downturn was regained in a brisk midweek trade on a curtailed supply further stimulated by storm conditions. Despite the moderate day-to-day price fluctuations the net change in steer prices over the past eight week period has been slight. Early trading was characterized by ageneralair of caution despite a steady carcass trade as most buying interests were in clined to operate on minimal live mventories. A large share of the early steer and heifer supply was good to average-choice, and many cattle carried a modest amount of mud. Steers made up approximately 31 pet and heifers 33 Pet.
