Most of the visitors, who are involved in cheese production in France wanted to see where the milk of America’s cheese fac tories is produced. Earlier during the day the tourists visited the Lehigh Valley cheese plant. Alpheus and Joe Ruth, owners of Vista Grande Farm explained their dairy operation to an interpreter who in turn explained the operation to the Frenchmen. They also felt that New York was dirty compared to their own cities. The American people seem very open and friendly to these people one Fren chman explained, adding that the French are more formal. They were also impressed with the “roominess” of the coun tryside. In France everything is smaller and closer together, they ex plained. As for the dairy farm they toured, it was big compared to the average French farm and the yields that the Ruths were getting were much higher than their yields. The tour was arranged by Touramerica Inc., an agency from New York City.
