—Lancaster Farming, Saturday, October 29,1977 90 Noll, Hellerick Leb Co.’s By JOANNE SPAHR LEBANON - Two mem bers of the Lebanon County Happy Variety 4-H Club earned the county’s highest 4-H honors on Saturday evening when they were named outstanding 4-H boy and girl at the teen award program held in the Lebanon Brethren Church. Earning the awards were Maxine Noll, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Melvm Noll, 1735 Colebrook Road, Lebanon, and Bruce Hellerick, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Karl Hellerick, Penn wood Road, Lebanon. Miss Noll, an 18-year-old freshman majoring in nuclear engineering at Penn State University, has been mvolved in the Happy Variety Club for nine years where she has been a teen leader for five of the nine. She has carried 13 projects ranging from photography to knitting to flower gardening. Active in club congress, leadership school, and other state events, Miss Noll credits 4-H with helping her become what she is today. “4-H started me out and gave me confidence in myself,” she said at the honors night. She also got her first glimpse of a nuclear reactor at Penn State during a 4-H activity. This, she recalls, “really made an impression on me,” To Bruce Hellerick, who at 16 years of age has started his own club, 4-H means “being able to leam and being able to talk bettter to people as well as having a lot of fun.” The club he began is the 4- H Entomology Club, which has approximately 15 or 20 members. Their major activities this year included visiting Penn State University, watching en tomology movies, collecting insects, and studying texts. Other projects Hellrick carries includes strawberries, geology, design with line, design with texture, vegetable gar dmgmg, and indoor and outdoor flowers. Along with his projects, Hellenck has participated in the club congress achievement days, teen retreat, and the Lebanon Fair, Both Hellenck and Miss Noll were judged from blue forms. Other awards handed out during the evening included certificates, pins, ribbons, and premium checks Patricia Krall, Extension 4- H agent, and Alletta M.
