The first place heavyweight Hereford animal, which also was named the grand champion of the Adams County division of the show, was the third animal in the sales ring. Proud owner was Jeff Golden, York Springs, who received 70 cents per pound for the 1275 pound steer, with C.C.N.B. Bank, holding out for the final gavel. Kevin Diehl, Fairfield, exhibited the reserve Adams County placing, a 1175 pound Hereford. Weigart’s Meat Market, Hanover, bought the steer for 70 cents per pound. Production Credit of York purchased the champion Lancaster Farming, Saturday, October 29,1977 Hereford animal, shown by Chris Klinedinst, who received 62 cents per pound for the 1100 pound beef. The reserve Hereford belonged to Harris Wright, Ab bottstown. Spangler and Sprenkle, Inc. paid 61.5 cents per pound for the 1095 pound steer. The reserve champion Angus animal was exhibited by Tun Caldwell, Wright sville, with Jay’s Super market paymg 64 cents per pound for the 995 pound winner. Richard Beck and Sons, Seven Valleys, pur chased the reserve crossbred for 60 cents per pound, with Kevm Beck the exhibitor of the 1215 poun der.
