Jet. 301 & 300 Sudlersville, MD (301) 758-1212 & STEIGER IN STOCK Livestock market and Omaha Cattle Omaha, Nebraska October 6,1977 Compared with end pr vious week’s close. Closing prices on slaughter steers and heifers were 1.00-1.50 higher. Cows were 50-1.00 higher and bulls firm. Four day receipts 13,800 as compared 13,000 previous week and 12,200 a year ago. The upward trend on slaughter steers and heifers extended into the third successive week with up turns supported by moderate marketings and heifer prices on carcass beef at the wholesale level. With the return of favorable weather conditions, harvest operations often claimed first priority and there was no particular seller pressure to move the available supply of market-ready cattle in the face of an advancing market. Much of the steer supply was of good to average-choice grade; the heifer supply outnumbered steers and the overall finish was noticeable more at tractive with a liberal percentage choice mcluded. Slaughter steers made up approximately 28 pet. and heifers 31 pet. Cows ac counted for 6 pet and the largest feeder run of the season 33 pet.
