CATTLE - Compared with
the previous weeks close -
cows were 50-1.00 higher and
bulls firm to 50 cents higher.
Four day receipts 14,800 as
compared 15,200 previous
week and 17,900 a year ago.
Fed cattle prices were
forced downward on Monday
and only slight recovery
was noted at midweek as the
bearish effects of a slow
moving carcass trade was
reflected in live trading.
Most buying interests were
cautious with best demand
.still centered on the
available supply choice
1050-1300 lb.'steers carrying
a minimal number of yield
grade 4 animals and on same
grade 925-1025 lb. hiefers.
Supplies were poorly
distributed over the trading
period with near 50 per cent
of the four day supply
arriving on Monday. In
addition to the lower mid
week carcass trade, Late
demand was also adjusted to
accomodate the approaching
