Society 6 The Berks County Farm Women Society 6, held a recent meeting in the home of Mrs. Harold Snyder, Oley, El. Mr. Doug Andrews and Mrs. Debbie Smith, representatives from the John Wanamakers Store, gave an illustrated talk on selecting furniture and in terior decorations. Eighteen members attended the meeting. During the business meeting, a donation was given to the 4-H Develop ment fund, and a con tribution was given to the George Hiltebeitel family. The September 20 meeting will be held at the residence of Mrs. Arthur Haas, Oley, RD2. Christ, funeral director of Oley, will be featured in the program. Berks Co. Society 9 Berks County Farm Women Society 9 met recently for their annual picnic, with 36 people at tending. After dinner, both the adults and children joined in games. A short business meeting was held after the picnic to discuss the county con vention which will be held October 1. The next meeting will be held at the home of Karen Schreier, Douglassville, on September 7. Topic for the meeting will be fashions. Lancaster Co, Society 3 The Lancaster County Farm Women Society 3 held their August meeting at the Salem Lutheran Church with Sallie West as hostess. Dr. J. Carl Reiser, a practicing chiropractor, spoke -on the subject “General Nutrition and Kinesiology”. The recipient of the 1977 scholarship is Tammy Kemper of Denver, Pa. Tammy was awarded- the scholarship at the meeting, she is a recent graduate of the Cocalico High School and plans to attend Indiana University, majoring in Home Economics. During our business meeting, conducted by Mrs. John Edwards, president, the ladies were advised of the county convention on November 5 at the Farm and Home Center. Members were encouraged to attend and also make contributions for the bazaar table. A donation was made to the Cambria County Society of .ancaster Farming, Saturday, August 27, 1977 Farm Women for the Johnstown Flood Relief Project. Plans are being finalized for the food stand at the Ephrata Fair. Next meeting will start at 8 a.m. with the opening of clams, followed with a work meeting at the Swamp UCC church with Mrs. Kenneth Zimmerman as our hostess on September 17. Lancaster Co. Society 19 On August 16, Lancaster County Society 19 en tertained about 40 guests at the Harrisburg State Hospital. Games were played and refreshments served. A short business meeting was held on the trip home at a stop in a restaurant for refreshment and fellowship. Mrs. Betty Saylor, president of the club, conducted the meeting. The next meeting of the club will be September 10 at the home of Mrs. Levi Weaver, Lititz. Lebanon Co, Society 5 The Lebanon County Farm Women Society 5 held a family picnic recently at the EXPO Fairgrounds, Lebanon, approximately 85 persons attending. At the business meeting the group decided to give a donation to the fairgrounds for use of their picnic area. The Lebanon Plaza Charity Bazaar, which will be held September 9 to 10, was discussed. The theme of the club will be “Country Maids.” The next meeting will be at the home of Mrs. Florence Kaylor, Anneville. York Co, Society 20 Ten members of the Shrewsbury Community 4-H Club presented a program at the August meeting of York County Farm Women Society 20 at the home ot Mrs. Margaret Shaub. The representatives selected by project leaders, gave demonstrations, modeled garments, and displayed various items they made in 4-H. Claudia Bailey was the winner of a contest conducted by Megan Shaub, a member of the Garden Club. The group tabled a discussion to make a quilt and the project was referred to a committee in charge. It was announced that Paula Trimpey, Shrewsbury, is a recipient of a $3OO scholarship awarded by Pennsylvania Farm Women. Six scholarships are presented annualy to students who are planning to further their education in home economics. Miss Trirapey will enter Messiah College, Grantham, in the fall. The next meeting is scheduled at 1 p.m. Sep tember 13 at the home of Mrs. Williams, New Freedom. Mrs. Joy Martin is in charge of the program “Safety”. The society will stage a plant sale along with miscellaneous articles. York Co. Society 35 York County Farm Women Society 35 was recently organized. The group is located in Seven Valleys. Results of election of of ficers is: president - Judy Brenneman; v. president - Vicki Eohrbaugh; secretary - Becky Warner; ass’t secretary - Linda Bricker; treasurer - Nancy Miller; ass’t treasurer - Joan Beck.
