periment Station at The
Pennsylvania State
University.
Geographical features
included are 3,000 each of
streams, towns, and
elevations above sea level.
The map gives the names
and locations of major
mountains, valleys, lakes,

the Lancaster County Future
Farmers of America held its
first orienteering contest at
Middle Creek Wildlife
Center. The three-part
contest consisted of a written
test involving map reading
skills, a pacing test, and an
outdoor compass course.
Despite the rain, Pequea
Valley high school ac
cumulated the highest team
average followed by Garden
Spot High School and
Ephrata High School.
Storing Winter Clothes
-When preparing clothes for
storage, give some attention
to the hangers used. Mrs.
Ruth Ann Wilson, Extension
clothing and textiles
specialist Penn State
University, suggests using
shaped wooden hangers for
coats and suit jackets.
Padded hangers are good
choices for lighter weight
garments, but make sure the
padding is smooth so it will
help retain the shape of the
garment. Also be sure
garments are clean before
storing them. Wash and
wear and permanent press
finishes tend to hold soil and
stains. Unless these are
removed, they will “set”
during storage and be dif
ficult, if not impossible, to
remove later.
