Storing Winter Clothes -When preparing clothes for storage, give some attention to the hangers used. Mrs. Ruth Ann Wilson, Extension clothing and textiles specialist Penn State University, suggests using shaped wooden hangers for coats and suit jackets. Padded hangers are good choices for lighter weight garments, but make sure the padding is smooth so it will help retain the shape of the garment. Also be sure garments are clean before storing them. Wash and wear and permanent press finishes tend to hold soil and stains. Unless these are removed, they will “set” during storage and be dif ficult, if not impossible, to remove later.
