Eastern milk producers rewarded for quality
BIRD-IN-HAND, Pa. - meeting of the Pequea
Ten dairymen who market Valley local of Eastern Milk
their milk through the Producers Cooperative.
Eastern Milk Producers Forty-six members were

for producing milk with low -
bacteria counts. Money for
the plaques - which were
presented to the four top
quality producers - came in
part from Young’s Minerals
Company and Purina Feeds.
Receiving the highest
recognition was Paul Lapp of
Coatesville R 2. Second high
individual was Harvey
Zimmerman of East Earl
Rl, followed by Abner-
Smucker of New Holland R 3.
In fourth place was Charles
Wallace of Coatesville R 2.

tificates for quality
production were: Levi King,
Gordonville Rl; Stephen
Esh, Ronks Rl; Amos
Smoker, Gordonville Rl;
Elam Rehil, Gap Rl;
and Emanuad Zook, Gor
donville Rl. The award
presentations took place
during the recent annual
Trail

HARRISBURG - Rep.
Noah W. Wenger, R-
Lancaster, has announced
that a measure to save the
historic and scenic Ap
palachian Trail has been
sent to the floor of the House
from committee.
Winger said the bill was
overwhelmingly voted out of
the House Conservation
Committee with an im
portant change made from
the. original legislation.
The Lancaster County
Republican, a member of the
Conservation Committee,
said he prepared and in
troduced the amendment to
House Bill 3 to insure land
acquired by the state to
preserve the pathway does
not infringe on valuable
acreage of designated far
mland.
Wenger said the Federal
Government will match the
amount of money the State
decides to spend to save the
trail from land developers
and private land owners who
are currently buying real
estate adjacent to the 200-
year old path.
