—Lancaster Farming, Saturday, March 12,1977 56 Farm Women Societies Berks Co, Board meets The February meeting of the Berks County Society of Farm Women, county board met at the Agricultural Center in Reading, with President Helen Ebling preciding. Shirley Strieker of Society 8 reported on the up coming “Ho«Iown” on April 23 at the Hamburg Field House. Tickets were handed out to each group. Admission will be charged at the door until 10 p.m. Barbara Kintzer of Society 8 will be in charge of food for the dance. The proceeds from the festivity will be donated to the Hamburg Center. In 1978, the proceeds will go the 4-H Development Fund. The Berks Heim Volunteer Tea is May 11. Berks Heim open house picnic will be held on June 12. The next meeting will be held March 7 at 8 p.m. Berks Co, Society 3 The Berks Co. Society of Farm Women Group 3 held its monthly meeting at the home of Mr. and Mrs. William Moyer, Boyertown R 4. A surprise house • warming was held with the Farm Women bringing the buffet and dessert. The Moyers were presented with a walnut mantel clock. After Mrs. Ernest Hartline opened the business meeting, 15 women an swered to roll call. Secret pals were selected for the coming year with gifts to be given at Christmas and birthdays. For community service, the women voted to donate $25 to the Berks Co. Heart Fund and $lOO to the Hauseman family, who lost their home in a fire, recently. On April 23 the 11 groups of Berks Co. Farm Women Societies will conduct a Ho- Down at the Hamburg Field House. All money made will be used to send Hamburg State Hospital guests to Summer camp. May 11, 1977 will be the Volunteers Tea at Berks Heim. The volunteer board has completely furnished the chapel in the annex. Also on that date, the state Farm "Women will have their Spring Rally at York, Pa. June 12 is open house and picnic time at the Heim. After the business meeting, Mrs. Moyer in structed the women in making macrame plant holders. - The next meeting will be March 22, at the home of Mrs. Mary Hill, 633 E. 4th St. William Campbell will present a safety program. Berks Co, Society 5 Farm Women Society 5 of Berks County met on February 21 in the home of Mrs. Richard Scharff. Fifteen members attended. The group discussed a bus trip to Lancaster County on April 16 to tour a few sites. A donation of $lOO was sent by the group to the David Hauseman family, Oley Rl, who lost their home in a fire. The next meeting of the group will be held in the home of Mrs. Andrew Schoener, Womelsdorf, on March 28 at 7:30 p.m. The topic will be tension and anxiety with Mrs. Terry Teeter as the speaker for the evening. TRY A CLASSIFIED Lancaster Co. Society 1 The Lancaster County Society of Farm Women 1 met on Saturday, March 5 at the Goodwill Industries, 1048 N. Plum St. Lancaster, Pa. Twenty-one members and one guest were present. Rachel Bollinger, president, took charge of the business meeting. Seats are still available for the bus trip to the Philadelphia Flower Show on March 15. Anyone interested should contact Amy Brubaker. Society 1 will en tertain Society 20 at 12:30 p.m. with a covered dish meal. The program will be a demonstration by Agnes Arnold - Norman, assistant home economist for the Lancaster County Extension Service. Lancaster Co. Society 6 Sixteen members of Lancaster County Society of Farm Women 6 met in the home of Mrs. Emery Wolgemuth of Elizabethtown last Saturday. During the business meeting, the group voted to give $l5 to Easter Seals and $lO to United Cerebral Palsy. The speaker for the day was Debra Heistand, a senior at Elizabethtown Area High School. Miss Heistand gave a slide presentation and a speech on a four-week witness ex perience which she and 30 other individuals took part in last Summer in Brazil. During their time in that country, the young people helped to clear stumps for an airstrip. The Society’s next meeting will be held on April 2 in the home of Mrs. Musser Heisey, Mr. Joy R 2.
