Lancaster Co, Society 2 The Lancaster County Society of Farm Women 2 held their February meeting at the home of hostess Kathryn Shreiner of Penryn. Co-hostess for the February meeting was Elsie Witmer. The meeting was on Safety and the guest speaker was Trooper Joseph R. Althoff of Troop J, the Lancaster State Police barracks. Trooper Althoff showed the women a film pertaining to “The Bunco Artist”. The victims of bunco artists and resulting crimes are of no age or oc cupation limits; however, the principal victim is the elderly and the housewife. “Bunco” is a general term II? Listed are a few safeguards to protect ones self when dealing with a bunco artist: practice the ancient law, “Buyer Beware” principle, and deal only with reputable, known business people, not a sales person who states he-she will be in the area for only a few days; when approached about your personal bank business, telephone your local banker, one that you personally know, and discuss with hun-her your concern. Never discuss your savings or checking account num bers with a stranger. If you think you have been a victim of a bunco artist, immediately telephone the police. Speaker was Mrs. Eva Mills, a guest at Calvary Homes. Mrs. Mills is a retired missionary from Brazil. She spoke on her experiences there. Hostesses m addition to Mrs. Landis were Mrs. Howard Combs, Mrs. Arthur Groff, and Mrs. Charles Meloy. The March meeting will be held at the home of Mrs. F. Edwin Rohrer, Paradise Rl, on Wednesday, March 9 at 1 p.m. Speaker will be Jolande Bensenk, an exchange student from Holland. Lancaster Co . Society 19 The Lancaster County Society of Farm Women 19 GIVES YOU HIGH-VOLUME FEEDING... UNIFORM FEED DISTRIBUTION Phone (717) 442-8134 met at the Landisville Church of God on February 13. Twenty-eight women shared in the sewing of cancer pads and pressure cushions. Those present also shared in a pot-luck lun cheon. The final activity of the day was an auction of items brought by the members. Plans were made to make a financial contribution to the Welsh Mountain Medical Center. The United Cerebral Palsy volunteers also plan to help stuff envelopes for Easter Seals and to sew at the Lancaster General Hospital on March 10. York Co. Society 12 Miss Linda Ebaugh, Delta R 2, who has had eight years of 4-H experience, spoke about the goals, projects,and programs of the 4-H groups to the Friendly Society of Farm Women Group 12. She showed slides of her trip to the National 4-H Congress held at Chicago, HI. She represented Pennsylvania as the state winner in achievement. Group 12 met at the home of Mrs. Chester Crale> and approved donations of $l5 to the March of Dimes and $lO to the conservation of York County. Nineteen members an swered to roll call.
