Hoffman, of 209 Summit Avenue, Quarryville, a salesman for the Lancaster Bone and Fertilizer Corporation, has been named 1976 ‘ ‘Man of the Year” by the Pennsylvania Plant Food and Protectant Educational Society. Hoffman received the award, a plaque, at the society’s recent annual meeting on the Pennsylvania State University Campus. According to Professor Robert F. A 1934 graduate of Dan ville High School, he then enrolled at Penn State, receiving a bachelor of science degree in hor ticulture in 1938. In 1939 he began his em ployment with the Lancaster firm, purchasing the business from the original owner, H.H. Huffnagle, several years later. In February 1975 he sold the corporation to Jack Dan tinne but continues to serve as a salesman and con sultant. Active in the Penn sylvanaia Plant Food and Protectant Educational Society, Mr. Hoffman served the organization as president, vice president, LAST CALL! DON’T MISS IT! i C. E. Hoffman is a member of the St. Paul’s Church of Christ Choir; Masons; Lions International; Southern Lancaster Sportsman’s Organization; and served as a school board member. Hoffman also distinguished himself in the southern Lancaster County area as a philanthropist. The recently expanded facilities at the Solanco Fairgrounds were largely made possible as a result of his donations and efforts. The new Com munity Building was erected as a result of his monetary contribution to the Solanco Fair and is named for his late wife, Sara Fuhrmann Hoffman.
