GETTYSBURG, Pa. - The 61st annual meeting of the Adams County Agricultural and Home Economics Ex tension Association was held on January 20 with dinner at 6:35 p.m. President Harrison G. Fair presided at the meeting. In his president’s report. Fair* told of work which transpired during the past year to formulate plans for a state-wide organization of executive committee members. Fair is serving as chairman of both a regional and state-wide (Tommittee which is working to ac complish this goal. He reported attending a meeting of Extension Directors and represen tatives of executive com mittees from these states on January 17, 1977 in Boston. John Baugher presented the report for the nominating committee and in the election which followed the following were re-elected: Thomas Clowney, Get tysburg Rl; Paul Renner, Littlestown R 2 and Glenn Slaybaugh, Jr., Biglerville R 2. The following new members joined the executive committee: John W. Bream, Jr., Orrtanna Rl, Mary Grim, East Berlin; and Donald Trostel, Biglerville Rl. All will serve three year terms. Following the theme It V I NEE., F FA..M ULK MILK C LE„S s R r*; “Planning For A Better Tomorrow” the staff presented the program for the evening. “Land: The Common Wealth”, a Penn sylvania movie which reviewed land use conflicts and presented a case for a land use policy in the Commonwealth was the main feature of the program. In introducing it County Extension Director Thomas E. Piper reviewed the series of public discussions which have been underway in recent months. He pointed out how the discussion process is designed to provide feedback to the state office of planning and development - reactions to an interim proposal and suggestions for land policy content. Citizens of all ages were encouraged to join in discussing selected land policy issues and problems. The public was invited to three meetings which remain in the series un derway in Room 145 of Gettysburg Senior High School: On February 9 John Callenbach and Victoria Weitzel will present “Hazard Areas and Cost-Benefits of Environmental Protection.” And, on February 23 “Organizing-Operating a Pennsylvania Land Policy” will be the topic of the program.
