Richard Landis, 2306 Horseshoe Road, Lancaster. Mrs. Harold Zook was co hostess and set the scene for Christmas by reading the Christmas story for devotions. During the business meeting there was a report on the success of the bazaar table during the annual homemaker’s Christmas program and a report on the county convention. The group voted to donate money to the American Cancer Society. Plans were made for those attending the State Farm Women meeting during Farm Show week. The next meeting will be held January 18 at the home of Mrs. Carl Diller, 2112 South View Road, Lancaster, with Mrs. Raymond Witmer, Willow Street co-hostessing. The program will be a report from “Your Roving Reporters.” Lancaster Co, Society 23 The December meeting of Lancaster Co. Society of Farm Women 23 was held at the home of Mrs. Glenn Burkholder of Washington Boro Rl. Gifts were shown that were purchased for the three “Special Friends” at the Hamburg State Hospital. Plans were made to visit and give these gifts. A donation of $5OO will be given to Jerry and Greta McCleary who lost all their possessions by fire at Thanksgiving. One of the members, Mrs. Ralph Kauffman, showed the group how to make apples from styrofoam balls, candle wax and crepe paper. Each member tried her skill and went home with several apples. The January meeting will be at the home of Mrs. Kenneth, Rohrer with members bringing “old Slides”. Lancaster Co, Society 29 On December 11, members of Lancaster County Society 29 and their husbands en joyed a banquet at Willow Valley Restaurant. Mike Buch presented a fast-moving magic show. Members also exchanged gifts which were items anywhere from homemade goodies and fruit baskets to a macrame flower pot hanger and ceramic cookie jar. Business included naming two state convention delegates and signing for February hockey tickets. The 1977 yearbooks were also passed to the members. A Society of Farm Women plate was presented to the outgoing president, Judy Erb. Berks Co. Society 3 The Berks County Society of Farm Women Group 3 met at the home of Mrs. Joseph Bartholomew, Boyertown R 2. The evening program was an arts and crafts show. Each member brought an item she had made and shared its directions with the group after the show. The ladies were taught reverse glass painting, and each made a small picture to hang at home. During the business meeting, plans were made to attend the state convention in Harrisburg on January 10 and 11. The sunshine chairlady announced that a list for fruit baskets and p oinsettias to be given to local shut-ins was compiled. Berks Co. A Christmas party was the highlight of the evening with the members reading legends, poems, and stories of Christmas. Gifts were exchanged, secret pals revealed, and new - secret pals chosen. Favors for Meals on Wheels, were also made at the meeting, and the gifts for shut-ins will be made at the home of Mrs. Vema Taylor. Past president Linda Taylor was given a gift by the group. Mrs. Waldo appointed her committees for her term of office. Members who attended every meeting during the year were Mrs. Good, Mrs. Mauger, and Mrs. Taylor. The next meeting will be at the home of Mrs. Edna Angstadt, Boyertown R 3. York Co. Society 20 SHREWSBURY, Pa. - Members of the York Co. Farm Women Society 20 of Shrewsbury gathered for their annual Christmas dinner on Dec. 7 at St. John’s Lutheran Church, New Freedom, where the LCW members served the event. Members were invited to participate in the annual Christmas tea sponsored by the New Freedom Area Woman’s Club; the tea, from 4-7 p.m. Dec. 19 at the home of Mrs. Susan Goldstein, A3O-CO0) RD. 1, MOUNTAIN RD., benefits the woman’s club’s nursing scholarship fund.
