In fact, for milk production it was extremely close. Just 16 pounds separated the top herd from the second-place herd, and between second and third it was a dead tie. Capturing first place for both milk and butterfat production was Samuel K. Stoner’s mixed herd of 51 dairy cows. The East Berlin R 2 dairymen checked in with production figures which read: 16,587 pounds of milk and 661 of butterfat. Trailing close behind in both milk and fat was Noel and Homes’ herd of registered Holsteins TRI DECK CAGE SYSTEM AUTHORIZED DISTRIBUTOR at Hanover Rl. Their 61 head averaged 16,571 pounds of milk and 655 pounds of butterfat. Roy A. Weaner Jr. of Gettysburg R 6 managed his 48 Holsteins to a third-place finish. They produced 16,571 pounds of milk and 644 of butterfat. Jim Miller’s herd of Guernseys checked in fourth with an, average of 11,730 pounds of milk and 590 of butterfat on 24 head. He in the County and high individual for milk; Charles Holmes, Hanover, of Pen-Mar Farm, (owned by Earl Noel, McSherrystown), second high herd; and Marvin Brown, Littlestown, high lifetime milk production. keeps his herd near New Oxford. Fifth place honors went to Kraybill Miller, Dillsburg R 2, whose 37 Holsteins pumped out an average of 14,590 pounds of milk and 577 of fat per head. Rounding out the list of the top 10 are; M.J.
