The four and three-quarter mile trail system was developed by Pennsylvania Power & Light Company. The trail is the fifth National Recreation Trail in Pennsylvania and the 99th in the country since the National Trails System Act became effective in 1968. It includes four in terconnecting loop trails located amid rolling hills that drop sharply into Kellys Run ravine, a scenic area of old growth hemlock and hardwood trees protected by PP&L as a natural area.
