Supplies were restricted at wholesale levels, but were generally sufficient for the current lighter demand. Prices for immediate delivery, in cluding multiple drop shipment to New York City area, on U.S. Grade A were off slightly at 35 to 36 cents. The undertone was showing improvement for late November delivery. On the Delmarva Peninsula, ready-to-cook broiler-fryer movement was lighter and many plants reduced their processing schedules. Live supplies were adequate. Prices were slightly lower, and on Thursday, ranged from 35 to 36 cents on U.S. Grade A, and 34 to 35 cents on plant grade. New York chicken parts prices were slightly higher on breasts but lower on legs and wings. The demand was moderate on breasts and supplies were clearing easily. However, the movement was just fair on other items. Prices per pound, Thursday, on ice packed, delivered in trucklot and trucklot quantity were as follows: breast 67 to 76 cents, mostly 69 cents; legs 36 to 47 cents, mostly 37 to 38 cents; and wings 34 to 36 cents, mostly 35 cents. Turkey trading was active. On carlot and trucklot young turkeys, U.S. Grade A, frozen, F. 0.8., New York, prices on hens, 8 to 16 pounds were 48 to 49 cents, and 14 to 22 pounds 49 to 51 cents, with the toms generally 2 to 3 cents higher than the previous week. The demand for toms was active for light supplies, while hens were just fair. Widespread ad vertising accured with many brands and sizes of fresh and frozen birds available. At the close, stocks of toms were clearing closely and hens were adequate.
