The smallest supply of Slaughter cattle since August 1973 accompanied by a substantial upturn in Carcass trading served to trigger the greatest advance in Fed cattle prices since last April, and the closing leveles were the highest since July. However, Slaughter under federal inspection showed only a mild decrease from the previous week through midweek. Buyers were generally aggressive as they competed on small supplies for sufficient numbers to meet immediate Slaughter requirements and weight. FEEDER PIGS 145. MGI. reports On October 9, 20 state police horses were sold at the state police academy. Robert M. Shaylor, Troy, Pa., was auctioneer. The sale lasted approximately one hour during which time the horses sold anywhere from $240 to $1550. All the horses were bought for pleasure horses, none for killers. The horses ranged in age from 9 to 24 years, but went for good prices because police animals are known to be well taken care of and are in good condition.
