Co. girl 4-H winner UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - Cathy Brubaker, 18, 345 Running Pump Road, Lane., who recently was judged winner in the State 4-H Dress Revue program in Penn sylvania, recently was named recipient of an ex pense-paid trip to National ‘e- H Congress in Chicago, Nov. 28 - Dec. 2. Mr. Carroll L. Howes, associate 4-H youth division leader at The Pennsylvania State University, who an nounced the honor trip, said Cathy will compete for dress revue awards at the national level while in Chicago. Support of the dress revue program is provided by the Simplicity Pattern Co., Inc. A member of the Lan disviUe 4-H Sevang Club and Red Rose 4-H Beef and Sheep Club, she served as president, vice president, secretary, treasurer, news reporter, game leader, and song leader. She also served as a teen leader of the sewing club the past two year. Cathy completed projects in eight years of sewing, and beef feeding. In Lancaster County, she took part in the county fair, dress revue, and achievement day. Grange youth representing 38 states will undergo per sonal interviews and written exams, and submit for review a written report on ther Grange, community, and school activities. Commenting on the values of the educational youth program, Cathy said: “4-H has helped me to become capable of fulfilling assigned responsibilities, teaching others skills, and expressing myself before a group.” She is one of 40 Com monwealth 4-H members being selected as state contest winners in the various project categories. The winners will represent the National Grange throughout 1977 at meetings, conferences, and youth camps. In additon, they will spend a week in Washington, D.C. at Grange headquarters in January 1977. Announcement of the winners will be made at a Coronation Pageant, on Nov. 13 by William Steel, National Grange youth director. Where to go in Pa. for flu shots HARRISBURG, Pa. - State Health Secretary Dr. Leonard Bachman recently announced schedules for the period Oct. 16 through 22 for immunizing Pennsylvania’s elderly and chronically ill against swine flu. Dr. Bachman said the Pennsylvania Department of Health is responsible for 63 counties in the Com monwealth, while Philadelphia and Allegheny Counties will conduct their own immunization cam paigns. Phase I of the im munization campaign is being directed to the high risk population. High-risk persons are defined as all those over the age of 65 years or those with chronic disease (heart disease, bron chopulmonary disease, renal disease, and metabolic disease or diabetes). These persons will receive a combination innoculation that protects against both swine flu and A-Victoria flu. Bachman said following the immunization of the elderly and high-risk groups, the State Health Department “will mobilize again for a mass citizen campaign by the first week in November."
