to Joann Trost of Lebanon,
Pa Joann placed second at
the season’s final rodeo,
earning 30 more points to put
her in the winning position
with 475 points.
The outcome of Saturday’s
rodeo also determined the
winners in the saddle bronc
and steer wrestling events.

with R. L. Tolbert in the

Kaye Kirby is a Wood
stown, N.J , cowboy and was
among the 15 finalists in 1976
at the National Finals
Rodeo. He is still among the
top finalists for 1976. He took
the all-around cowboy's
buckle with a total of 1,581
points, the bare back buckle
with 660 points and the bull
rider’s buckle with 526
points, plus the tie for the
saddle bronc.
Willie Ed Walker of
Woodstown, N.J., just
started his steer wrestling
career this year, and with
Lancaster Farming. Saturday. Oct. 2.1976
luck and a great deal of
ability, won the steer
wrestler’s buckle with 279
points Sherman Shldner of
Sharptown, N.J. was pushing
a very close second.
The calf roping buckle was
won by Bud Bramwell of
Norwalk, Conn., with 294
points.
The engraved silver
buckles were sponsored by
local businessmen. Debora
Zane of Zane’s Western
Wear, presented the saddle
bronc buckle to Kaye Kirby
and Grant Hams.
Cowtown cowboy outfitters
sponsored the bare back
buckle presented to Kaye
Kirby by Earnest Bickford.
George Schneider of the
Crystal Ice Co., presented
Joann Trost with a 25 pound
cake of ice. The silver buckle
surrounded by red roses was
frozen inside.
Mary Tanyer, proprietor
of the Cowtown Steak House,
presented the steer
wrestler’s buckle to Wilhe
Ed Walker.
The calf ’ roper’s buckle
was sponsored by Richman’s
Ice Cream Co. and Bud
Bramwell accepted it from
Bill Holmes.
The all-around cowboy’s
buckle was presented to
Kaye Kirby by the originator
of the Cowtown Rodeo,
Stoney Harris. The buckle
was sponsored by Cowtown
Auctioneer’s and Grandpa’s
Farm.
Clarence Flitcraft, owner
of the Cream Valley Dairy,
presented the bull riding
buckle. Kaye Kirby accepted
his fourth buckle in one
evening.
The rodeo was held for the
benefit of the South Jersey
Council for the Boy Scouts of
America.

EPHRATA - When FFA
students from eight schools
gathered here for a tractor
driving contest last week to
test their skills, it was Larry
Hershey of Manheim who
came out on top of the heap.
Held here during the
Ephrata Fair, the contest
represented seven boys from
Lancaster County schools
and one from Chester
County.
Hershey, the son of Mr.
and Mrs. Donald Hershey,
scored a first in the main
tenance test, a third m the
written exam, and first
overall. There were four
parts to the “driving con
test” -written exam, trouble
shooting, maintenance, and
actual driving.
Following Hershey in the
final standings were: Joe
Hoover of the Grassland
Chapter, Jay Shertzer, Penn
Manor; Steve Koser,
Pequea Valley; and Kevin
Smoker, Cloister. The top
three in each category were
as follows; Written test 1.
