Frame and his wife, both Chester Countians, became part-owners and major stockholders of the Vintage Sales Stables this past Spring. The idea of holding feeder pig sales is one of several new programs which came about as a result of new management. The sales SLASHED ON UNI-LOADERS. A. L. HEM & MO. The new head of Vintage Sales Stables claimed that volume at the facilities, located east of Lancaster along Route 30, has in creased dramatically ever since his family took over. He described his first feeder pig sale as “excellent,” and quoted prices as high as $lO5 per hundredweight. While citing the increase in sales in all categories. Frame pointed with special pride to the results of the feeder pig sale and also the fact that a new milestone was set just this week in fat steer numbers. More than 1050 head of fat steers were sold at the July 6 sale. Frame commented. “We have never sold that many (1053) in any one day before.” In all, a total of 1850 head of cattle reportedly went through the sales facilities; which were remodeled and added on to in 1971. Permission to sell feeder pigs here was granted after the sales stables complied with rules and regulations set forth by the Agriculture Department in Harrisburg. That included a complete cleaning and disinfecting of the old sale barn. The building had been and continues to be used for the grading of calves as well as feeder pigs, although no market hogs are allowed Ph. 786-3521 Erecting this eye catcher along Route 30 to help let people know where to turn in to get to the Vintage Sales Barn, was the idea of Elaine Frame, wife of Robert Frame, above. The couple took control of the sales stables on March 10 of this year and within those petitions. Vintage sells between 1000 and 1500 head of hogs per week, according to Frame. The cost of renovating the old bam for its present uses was estimated to be $4OOO, Frame said. I / j hesston I I! FARM EQUIPMENT ■ HESSTON COBP. HftS THE BIGHT MACHINE FOR YOU.
