We already have several - so hurry up and get yours in the mail today! xxx Southern Chess Pie 1 unbaked 9 inch pie shell % cup butter 1 cup sugar V* cup flour Vz cup evaoprated milk 2 egg yolks 1 teaspoon vanilla Vs teaspoon salt 2 egg whites V* cup sugar Vi teaspoon salt Cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Add flour, milk, egg yolks, vanilla and salt. Beat well. Pour into unbaked pie shell. Bake at 350 degrees for 45 minutes. Cool slightly. Beat egg whites until frothy. Add sugar and salt beating until stiff and glossy. Spread meringue over filling. Return to oven and bake 5-7 minutes. Recipes for Mealtime Treats XXX German Smoked Pork Roast 4 pounds pork loin-center cut roast salt pepper 1 jar horseradish glaze hickory chips cherry tomatoes endive Rub fat side of roast with salt and pepper. Place roast on grill over medium coals with drip pan. As roast browns add soaked hickory chips to coals. Put lid of grid on and roast two hours or until meat is browned. Topping Recipes xxx Zippy Deviled Eggs 8 hard cooked eggs 2 tablespoons mayonnaise 2-3 teaspoons lemon juice 1 teaspoon prepared mustard 1 teaspoon spicy sauce mixture Vz teaspoon salt Vs teaspoon pepper Cut eggs lengthwise and remove yolk. Mash yolks with fork and combine with remaining ingredients Refill whites of eggs. Makes 16 egg halves. Dining With Eggs Barbequed Beef Strips 2 pounds beef round steak cut % inch thick prepared mustard flour V« cup cooking fat 1 clove garlic, minced Vz cup finely chopped onion x h cup diced green pepper V* cup finely cut celery leaves V* cup parsley 1 can (8 oz.) tomato sauce 1 cup water V* cup vinegar 2 tablespoons sugar V 2 teaspoon salt Cut steak into strips l lf i mches wide and 3 inches long. Brush with mustard and lightly dip in flour. Brown in hot skillet with fat. Place in baking dish and add vegetables to frying pan. Saute vegetables adding tomato sauce, water, vinegar sugar and salt. The eventual winner will represent Lancaster County in the State competition for the Pennsylvania Poultry Queen. She also represents the local association in various functions. She reigns over the Poultry Association’s float in each of the Farm Show parades held in the fall. She will also make a special appearance at the annual banquet held by the Association. Contestants must be single, and between the ages of 17 and 23 as of August 1. She may be employed by an industry related to the poultry business, or have a relative in any phase of poultry production.
