Secretary Butz noted that the U.S. fully intends to meet the needs of its traditional customers around the world and that he would do everything possible to assure that Poland's present and future needs for agricultural products will be met. He also noted that the detailed import plans now being provided by Poland are the best way to assure that supplies will be available from the United States. The Secretary and the Minister agreed on the principles of a supply un derstanding between the U.S. and Poland. The actual quantities to be covered by this understanding will be studied with a view to coming to agreement during the Secretary’s upcoming visit to Poland. Because of poor climatic conditions in Poland and other Eastern countries, the Minister confirmed that Poland needs to purchase additional quantities of grain this calendar year. Probst The Secretary and the Minister agreed that further development of the prin ciples set forth in the U.S.- Polish Joint Statement on Development of Agricultural Trade signed in Washington on Oct. 8,1974, including the exchange of data on supply, demand and trade, is in the best interest of both Poland and the United States since it assures harmonious development of agricultural trade between the two countries. In addition to their trade discussions, Secretary Butz and Minister Barchikowski reviewed the status of economic and scientific technological cooperation between the two countries. There was agreement that the operation of joint research projects, the ex change of specialists to study at universities and research institutes, and the exchange of young trainees to work on farms are desirable forms of cooperation. USDA has New dairy goat association organized A Blue Mountain Area Dairy Goat Association is being organized to cover parts of Lehigh, Carbon, Schuylkill, and Berks counties. On September 11 a group of 20 enthusiastic dairy goat owners met in the Schuylkill County Extension Office to discuss formation of a dairy goat association. The group decided to form an association with several purposes and goals in mind. The association hopes to eventually publish a monthly news letter, to serve as an educational source for in formation on dairy goats, set up tours, discuss marketing of milk and milk products, established a buck inter relating program and many other services relating to management of a dairy goat agreed to help the Polish Ministry of Agriculture identify scholarships and fellowships for which Polish scientists might compete.
