Three Berks Co. UNIVERSITY PARK - Three Berka County young adults, who have compiled outstanding records in 4-H work, were named state contest winners in the 1975 4- H National Awards program. They are Sandy Miller, 18, of R 2, Hamburg, winner in dairy; Cathy Yanos, 17, of R 2, Douglaasville, state winner in home en vironment; and Ann Deborah Linton, 18, of 1530 Oak Lane, Reading, winner in veterinary science. Sandy will receive an expense-paid trip to National 4-H Congress in Chicago, November 30-December 4, Both Cathy and Ann will receive $5O U.S. Savings Bonds. Ann Linton The state veterinary science contest winner completed projects in three units of veterinary science, three units of teen leader ship, horse, sewing, cooking, home improvement, woodworking, and safety. In Berks County, she participated in the 4-H demonstration day, horse bowl, horse judging, dress revue, and camp. Ann also took part in Regional 4-H Teen Leaders Retreat, Regional 4-H Horse Bowl, Regional 4-H Horse Show, State 4-H Achievement Days, 4-H Exchange Program, and Pennsylvania Farm Show. Ann said; “4-H has given me sympathy and the respect of other people. It has also shown me the meaning of responsibility.” They are three of 40 Commonwealth 4-H mem bers being selected as state winners in the various project categories.
