I don’t want any part of it but occasslonally it is necessary for myself or other members of the family. Many times I’ve wished I could take a basket of lima beans along and hull them while I wait. Other folks have mentioned bringing their ironing or mending and completing it while they await their turn. Soft music may help wile away the time but a television blaring in a small room certainly “turns me off.” Appointments help to save time but don’t expect too much as often one rushed to an office only to cool your heels later. Maybe I’m the only one who gets exasperated but I feel my time is important too. At least, if I were home, I’d be dashing from one job to another in hopes of ac complishing something. When I told my children that I remember the SesquiCentennial held in Philadelphia in 1926, they RD4, Lebanon. PA Ida Risser looked at me askance. Was 1 really that old? It was a nice feeling to realize that they didn’t think of me as being that old. Being very young, my parents and grandparents impressed on me the fact Out this was as important occasion which should be remembered. I do know that we toured a large ship and the beautiful state rooms were quite elegant. There also was a train which we walked through as it was on display, I believe. Probably I should remember the long trip on the open touring car but I don’t. My grandfather gave me a coin that was minted for the occasion and today it is most likely worth more then it was then. Celebrations come and go but next years Bicentennial is one we should all par ticipate in as without the courage and determination of our ancestors we would not have all the blessings which we enjoy today.
