Tina Marie Acker, the 1974 Chester County Dairy Princess, was on hand for the event and was presented with an engraved silver bowl by the Princess Committee for her promotion of the dairy industry throughout the past year. Berks County Berks County's new Dairy Princess is Cathy Yanos, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Yanos, Douglasvllle. Cathy’s crowning was the highpoint in a weeklong observance of June dairy month at the Berkshire Mall. Dairy groups from around the county cooperated to mount a very impressive display of dairying equip ment, information - even calves - running the entire length of the Berkshire Mall. The Dairy Princess Contest, held in the Mall on Saturday night, drew a large crowd of onlookers. They watched as master of ceremonies Ray Weber, public relations director for the Philadelphia Dairy Council, questioned the contestants. They listened as the Paul Miller family sang their medley of milk songs. The Millers operate a family dairy farm in Dauphin County, and their family group includes Debbie Miller, Pennsylvania State Dairy Princess, who was on hand to give a few words of encouragement to the contestants. The winning contestant, Cathy Yanos, will enter the University of Pennsylvania School of Nursing this fall. She is active in her 4-H club, Grange and the National Honor Society. Runnerup in the contest was June TYexler, a senior at Kutztown Area High School and the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Steward Trexler, Kempton. June is active in a Youth Fellowship group, 4-H club, the Kempton Com munity Center and is a pitcher for a girl's softball team. The other contestants in the contest were; Gail Hamm, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George Hamm, Kempton. Gail is also a senior at Kutztown Area High School. Ann Marie Hetrick, Everyone of these four young ladies was a dairy princess winner in Lancaster County last Saturday night. Donna Akers, seated, received her dairy princess crown from last year’s daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Merrill Hetrick, Limekiln. She is a senior at Oley Valley High School. Sharon Troutman, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Richard Troutman, Richland. Sharon is a graduate of Conrad Weiser High School. During the program, engraved pewter plates were presented to each contestant by the Berkshire Mall Merchants Association. Also recognized were Debbie Miller, Susan Seidel, last year’s dairy princess for Berks County, and Mrs. Donald Meyers, the coor dinator for the contest. Judges for the event were Glenn Ellenberger, Leheigh County Agricultural Agent, princess, Diane Crider, - center, as alternate Lisa Hoover, left, and congeniality award winner Debra Crider looked on. Miss Pat Krall, Lebanon County Youth Agent, and Dick Wanner, editor of Lancaster Fanning. Dauphin County Miss Marjie Hoffer, 19 daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Aaron Hoffer of Middletown R 1 was selected as the Dauphin County Dairy Princess during festivities held Friday evening, June 20 at the Colonial Park Mall. A graduate of Middletown High School, Marjie is currently attending Harrisburg Community College majoriqg in Library Technology. She has been a leader in the Lower Dauphin 4-H Dairy Club and is the treasurer of the newly for med Lebanon-Dauphin Jr. Crowned as the 1975 Chester County Dairy Princess was Sandy Evans (right).
