Black and White bought Local Firms Buy Show Steers Lancaster Fanning and the Black and White Holstein Farm, Lancaster, were among the area concerns who helped to support local youths in their baby beef efforts at the Pennsylvania Farm Show this year. The newspaper bought the steer shown by Sarah Brubaker, 2418 Harrisburg Pike, Lancaster. The 1185- pound Hereford placed third m its class at the Farm Show, and brought 47-cents a pound in the auction ring last Friday. Sarah’s brother, Ken, sold his steer to the sales bam for 50-cents a pound. His 1170 pound Angus placed fifth in its class during Farm Show competition. Commenting on the pur chases, Park Myers, a partner at Black and White, said, “I think it’s a good thing for local businesses to support the work these kids are doing. Next year I’d like to see even more steers coming back to Lancaster County.” Among the largest pur chasers of Farm Show steers was Lancaster Packing Co., Lancaster.
