Jan. 4. 1975 62 Grain Seeded For 1975 The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) recently proposed that beginning March 1, 1975, official grain inspection agencies be required to retain file samples of all grain inspections. ROSEVILLE RD„ LANCASTER PHONE 393-3921 provided for in the 1969 revision of grain inspection regulations, but its im plementation has been delayed to give inspection agencies time to establish satisfactory file sample retention systems. The proposed requirement will be published in the Dec. 27 Federal Register. In terested parties may submit written comments on the proposal until Jan. 27, 1975. All comments must be submitted in duplicate to the Hearing Clerk, Room 112-A, USDA, Washington, D.C. 20250* File samples are needed for reinspections, appeal inspections, and supervision inspection agencies are presently retaining file sample on a voluntary basis, and suitable containers are readily available at a nominal cost. The time for which file samples will be retained will vary depending on the type of c.' ier in VI volved - for example, railroad boxcar, truck, barge, or ship. Under the U.S. Grain Standards Act, original grain inspections in the United States are performed by USDA - licensed in spectors who are employed by USDA - designated state or private grain inspection * agencies.
