Placements of broiler chicks in the Commonwealth during the week ending November 30, 1974 were 1,272,000. The placements were 5 percent above the corresponding week a year earlier, and 3 percent above the previous week. Average placements during the past 10 weeks were 5 percent below a year earlier. Settings for broiler chicks were 2,082,000 - 10 percent above the previous week and 3 percent above the com parable period a year earlier. The current 3-week total of eggs set is 1 percent above the same period a year ago. Inshipments of broiler type chicks during the past 10 weeks averaged 3,000 compared with zero a year ago. Outshipments averaged 196,000 during the past 10 weeks, 27 percent below a year earlier. Placements in the 21 States were 53,127,000 - 1 percent above file previous week and 10 percent below the same week a year earlier. Average placements during the past 10 weeks were 12 percent below a year ago. Settings were 66,405,000 -1 percent above the previous week and 9 percent below a year earlier. Omaha Cattle Thursday, December 5 Compared with the previous week’s close: after a series of wildly erratic trading sessions, closing prices on slaughter steers were steady to 25 higher, and Heifers close steady. Cows were mostly 1.00 lower and Bulls weak to 1.00 lower. Four day receipts 18,400 as compared 14,600 for previous holiday week and 19,600 a year ago. Slaughter Steers approximately 33 percent week total, Heifers 22 per cent, Cows 15 percent, and Feeders for Fridays auction little more than 25 percent. STEERS: On Monday and Tuesday, High-Choice and Prime 920-1167 lbs. yield grade 3-4 36.65-38.00, two loads 1036 lbs. 38.50 Monday and load Choice 1137 lbs. yield grade 3 for Canadian shipment 39.00, but, none above 37.00 at -low tune Tuesday.
