    Cardinal 5-Inch U-Trough
for High-Moisture Gram
This U-trough auger was designed specifically
for handling high-moisture corn in a feed system.
The components of the unit heavier shaft and
flighting, 16 ga. steel trough and special bearings
are “big equipment” features and add much
to the flexibility and durability of this unit.
• The compact chain reducer drive is fully guarded
and trough covers provide safety as well as weather
and dust protection.
• Drive can be mounted on either intake or discharge end,
either above or below the trough on intake end.
(Above the discharge end is recommended.)
• Hanger bearings are split wooden type, permanently
lubricated, low friction, quiet running and
easily accessible.

Honan Worried About
Anti-Coop Movement
“The future life of one of
the largest dairy
cooperatives has been
challenged by a Justice
Department consent
decree,” Dr. James E.
Honan, general manager of
Inter-State Milk Producers’
Cooperative, announced
Tuesday during the 57th
annual cooperative meeting
in Philadelphia. “Court
action threatens the future
activity of two others. The
economic failure of two
Pennsylvania based dairy
cooperatives and the
financial problems of a third
raise questions by dairy
cooperative members of
their financial respon
sibilities and the apparent
inability of dairy
cooperatives to muster total
cooperation between and
among themselves continues
to be with us,” Honan con
tinued.
Honan pointed to the

from the Capper-Volstead

cooperatives are being
contested by the courts for
apparent and-or alleged
abuse of power. Consumer
groups looked extremely
critically at co-ops as their
political and social efforts
are on the upswing.”
“Tomorrow is more than
the next sunrise,” Honan
declared. “We must continue
to seek Class I sales. We
must continue to work with
others to market or to use
our efforts either in money
or in milk to improve our
ability to achieve a
reasonable income for you,
the producer.”
Honan urged the dairy
farmers to an immediate
goal of getting the facts to
the consumers as soon as
possible - the facts about
dairy farming, marketing,
and the true value of the
product - milk. Honan told
the delegates that this im-
