But for now Randy has another new occupation and that is training a new palamino Quarter horse that he recently bought at a sale in Timonium, Maryland. Garden Spot Farmers Set Horizontal Silo Meeting The Garden Spot Young Farmers will present an adult farmer meeting to study horizontal silos on Tuesday, October 22, 1974 at 7:45 p.m. at the Garden Spot High School agriculture classroom. The study will look into the cost ad vantages, management, and construction of trenches, bunkers, piles, and other forms of horizontal silos. The meeting will be a panel discussion sup plemented with slides illustrating successful operations and construction. Speakers who will be serving on the panel and sharing their experiences will be: Penn State Extension Engineer, Jerry Bodman; dairyman, Tom Zartman from the Ephrata area; and beef producer, C. Richard Neff from the Millersville area. As the farm cost-price squeeze tightens, one of the ways cost of storage of forage can be reduced is with the use of horizontal silos, according to Donald Robinson, adult farmer advisor for the Eastern Lancaster County School District. The purpose of this meeting will be to look ob jectively at the possibilities of using horizontal silos, to dispel fears and hang-ups farmers may have in using them, as well as showing proper management practices that produce cost advantages without a loss oi quahty and labor efficiency \ The meeting is open to all interested farmers in the area.
