Included in the animals exhibited were 92 Holsteins, 24 Brown Swiss, 13 Milking Shorthorn, 31 Jer seys, 11 Ayrshires, and 19 Guernseys, Judges for the show were Harry Roth, Atlantic Breeders Cooperative, from Lancaster, Pennsylvania for Holsteins, and Samuel J. Diehl, Ayrshire Breeder, from Bedford, Pennsylvania for Ayrshires, Milking Shorthorn, Brown Swiss, Jerseys and Guernseys. During the course of the show, exhibitors who did an outstanding job of fitting and showing their animals were given Master Fitter or Master Showman awards. No champions were selected in these categories. Judges for these fitting and showman awards were John Smith, County Agent, York County; Dr. James Mc- Caffrey, Delaware Valley College, Doylestown; and Paul Anderson, Penn State Dairy Specialist. Glenn Shirk, Associate County Agent from Chester County and Show Manager, estimated that 400 spectators were present during the day. Shirk also noted that the blue ribbon animals in each class are eligible to compete in the Pennsylvania Junior Dairy Show which will be held Monday, September 23 at the Farm Show Building in Harrisburg. Rhein, RD2, Pine Grove; reserve and reserve senior champion - Terry Lee Rhein, NY-NJ Dairymen Get Paid $ 7.66 For July’s Milk A uniform farm price of $7.66 per hundred weight (46.5 quarts) for July milk deliveries to pool handlers under the New York - New Jersey marketing orders was announced today by Thomas A. Wilson, market administrator. The uniform price was $7.37 in June 1974 and $6.89 in July 1973. The butterfat differential for July milk testing higher or lower than 3.5 percent was 7.0 cents for each tenth of a pound of fat. According to Wilson, receipts from producers totaled 826,873,893 pounds, an increases of 44,527,361 pounds. Receipts of fluid (Class I) milk, for which handlers paid $9.33 per hundredweight, dropped 7,216,968 pounds, or 1.9 percent to 381,365,717 pounds. Receints at bulk tank units increased 61,701,710 pounds to 782,359,879, he noted, while the percent in the pool rose from 92.1 in July 1973 to 94.6 in July 1974. A total of 434,596,700 pounds, 55.5 percent of this milk was used as Class II and subject to the transportation credit, which amounted to $434,596.79. The number of tank producers was up by 92 to 19,076 though the total number of producers in the pool fell by 914 to 21,232, Mr. Wilson commented. July deliveries had a gross value of $63,493,405.94. Mr. Wilson said that this in cluded differentials required to be paid to dairy farmers, but not voluntary premiums or deductions authorized by the farmer.
