Engineering graduate of
Texas A & M University, a

turer, Rotarian of Syracuse,
N.Y., and past hospital
board member and Com
munity Chest Board
Chairman.
Challenges for Champions’
will explore the challenges to
our industry in areas such as
the environment, money
management, the future,
etc. We are fortunate to have
speakers like Mr. Talbert to
help us discuss and solve
problems which affect all of
us.”
Mr. Talbert, in his talk,
will direct attention toward
some of the basic logic that
has gone into environmental
legislation which in some
cases gets pretty far
removed from en
vironmental protection per
se. It will be his intent to
focus on some of the
economic and social im
plications of the en
vironmental movement and
to forecast some of the

House Tour Set
An open house program for
a modern dairy bull beef
operation has been
scheduled for Wednesday in
Mobrsville, according to
James Haldeman, county
agent for Berks County.
_ The open house will be held
from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. at
the Rae Hix farm and
Haldeman said interested
persons from Berks and
surrounding counties are
welcome to attend.
In addition to a tour of the
installation, there’ll *be
addresses by Lester Bur
dette, extension livestock
specialist from Penn State,
Louis Moore, extension
marketing specialist there,
and Dr. Samuel Guss, Penn
State’s extension veterinar
ian. Burdette will talk about

be held on September 15-17,

solar roof barn for 500 dairy
beef bulls, automated
facilities for haylage and
com silage handling, a gas
heated, tube ventilated calf
bam for 65 calves, a 100-cow
free stall bam, a broiler
house with 28,200 bird
capacity, and a new swine
finishing house.
The Hix farm is located off
Route 78, near Shartlesville.
