The boys talk centered around recent discussions of what 'additives should be used in corn silage and what advantages the additives offered. Phil Risser, son of Mr. and Mrs. Allen Risser, Leola, captured third prize with his demonstration on wood working tools and ideas. Other 4-H members participating in the senior division were Jane Gregory, RDI, Lititz, Barbara Myer, Elizabethtown, and Genevieve Gibson, South Ann St., Lancaster. The public speaking division of the Demon stration Day proved in teresting with the par ticipating 4-Hers many times challenging and inspiring the audience with words of encouragement and positive attitudes toward life. Blue ribbon winners in'the senior division were Joe Lefever, son of Mr. and Mrs. Titus Lefever, RD2 Manheim with his talk titled “Opportunity” and Nancy Henkel, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Henkel RDI, Strasburg who gave a speech on the topic “How 4-H Contributes to personal development”. Both Nancy and Joe will be giving their speeches at the Regional Demonstration Day next Friday. Other speakers in the senior division were Claudia Bard, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Bard, Lan caster, Elizabeth Herr, Narvon and Ruby Ginder, Elizabethtown. In the junior speaking contest, Susan Martin, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ronald B. Martin, Ephrata, captured first prize with John Abel, son of Mr. and Mrs. Richard Abel, Quarryville winning first in the boy’s division. Most of the members will be going to Regional Demonstration Day at Dillsburg July 12th. Judges for the event were Gerald Phillips, FFA coordinator at Pequea Valley, Sharon Schaffer, Home Economist, Phil Ogline Agriculture teacher at Garden Spot and Bonnie Miller, UGI Home Economist.
